The man who is hunting her enjoys the chase as much as the kill, and Avery fears not only for her life, but the lives of those she loves.

Charla Kent has a deadly connection to the killer. Her proximity to his only surviving victim, Avery, makes every day a struggle, but all Charla wants is to find the truth.
Noah Cotter is responsible for catching the killer, but his feelings for Avery
urge him to protect her by any means necessary. He is desperate to get ahead of the murders, and it's clear the killer is making up the rules as he goes.
Avery, Charla, and Noah must decide what they are willing to sacrifice to survive and who they can trust. With each dead body comes a clue in the form of cuts so deep, the killer will...

I just finished book 2 of this trilogy. I won’t be reading book 3. The first book was rather stiff, but I’m always willing to give a second chance to an author I’ve never read before so I went for book two. It didn’t get any better. The characters are so barely developed, after 2 books I have no real sense of them or who they are. The main police inspector character, Noah, is so wooden and stilted he seems like a robot. The bad guy is so poorly developed you can’t work up even a modicum of dread when he’s in a scene. The main female character, Avery, is just limp and barely “there”. The dialogue is tedious, the pacing is disorientating, and the plot holes are huge and many. The main premise of the story is vaguely interesting, but not unique enough to overcome all of the other problems. I can’t recommend this trilogy.
