An intimate, powerful, and inspiring memoir by the former First Lady of the United States

In a life filled with meaning and accomplishment, Michelle Obama has emerged as one of the most iconic and compelling women of our era. As First Lady of the United States of America—the first African American to serve in that role—she helped create the most welcoming and inclusive White House in history, while also establishing herself as a powerful advocate for women and girls in the U.S. and around the world, dramatically changing the ways that families pursue healthier and more active lives, and standing with her husband as he led America through some of its most harrowing moments. Along the way, she showed us a few dance moves, crushed Carpool Karaoke, and raised two down-to-earth daughters under an unforgiving media glare.
In her memoir, a work of deep reflection and mesmerizing storytelling, Michelle Obama invites readers into her world, chronicling the experiences that have shaped her—from her childhood on the South Side of Chicago to her years as an executive balancing the demands of motherhood and work, to her time spent at the world’s most famous address. With unerring honesty and lively wit, she describes her triumphs and her disappointments, both public and private, telling her full story as she has lived it—in her own words and on her own terms. Warm, wise, and revelatory, Becoming is the deeply personal reckoning of a woman of soul and substance who has steadily defied expectations—and whose story inspires us to do the same.

  • An Outstanding Story from a Down to earth woman

First Lady Michelle Obama’s Becoming touches me profoundly. I’m astounded my how she shares intimate moments from a public life with a fantastic, warm grace. As another African American woman, I loved the intelligence and patience she discovered within herself even when she, her daughters or husband faced the simple challenge of trying to do for others because others have done for them. I wish The First Black family all the love their hearts can hold. This message comes from a Texas gal to a South Side chick.

It’s an enjoyable ride both read and listen with all the ups and downs of the Robinsons and their precious daughter, and LATER the ups and downs of the Obamas as normal American working family and as first family. This book lets you get closer to the Obamas and get to know them through the words of Michelle Obama, pouring her heart on the pages, page by page, in case you have the paperback and the warmth of her voice word by word in case you have the audio in a peaceful and loving tone!! And learn as you go about the chaos and muddy roads of our media and national politics. Keynote takeaway is that this biography encourages you unconsciously to start unlocking the possibilities/opportunities from within and dare to have a life purpose and a dream or maybe dreams if you don’t have any yet, work on them well and keep moving forward, no matter where are you standing NOW on the spectrum of life! No matter what your roots are or where your ancestors came from. A delightful read that pushes you to better yourself and have a life principles along the way as you go, so that they help steady your inner world, keep your ego in-check, guide you throughout the road and light the tunnels up when things get darker and/or harder. I applaud her for narrating her book in a slow pace that’s genuine and warm! You can feel her love and care even if you never met her. Thank you madam FLOTUS!🙏💜✊
