**THE INSTANT #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER**

"An unforgettable—and Hollywood-bound—new thriller... A mix of Hitchcockian suspense, Agatha Christie plotting, and Greek tragedy."
Entertainment Weekly

The Silent Patient is a shocking psychological thriller of a woman’s act of violence against her husband—and of the therapist obsessed with uncovering her motive.

Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word.

Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety. The price of her art skyrockets, and she, the silent patient, is hidden away from the tabloids and spotlight at the Grove, a secure forensic unit in North London.

Theo Faber is a criminal psychotherapist who has waited a long time for the opportunity to work with Alicia. His determination to get her to talk and unravel the mystery of why she shot her husband takes him down a twisting path into his own motivations—a search for the truth that threatens to consume him....

Once I opened it, it had to be finished in one sitting. Read it in a few hrs! Not sure another book has captured my attention quite like this.
  • That Double Plot Twist

Wow. So many details and changing times/scenes I wasn’t really bored per se but he keeps you distracted throughout so when he drops the bomb, it makes you audibly gasp. I didn’t see it coming. Makes up for the slow build.

It was somewhat slow in the beginning, but it is entertaining and intriguing enough to get you to where it starts to pick up

I couldn’t put this book down, it was recommended by friends. The ending was very surprising but amazing I would 10/10 recommend this book to anyone who loves to read as much as I do!

I enjoyed the way this book was written. I finished it in 3 days. I did not pickup on the plot twist until I was smack dab in the middle of it and the realization came like a tidal wave. Good, easy & engaging read.

This is the first book I’ve read in awhile and I was so drawn to it. I could barely put it down and when I did I was in a constant state of wondering when the next time I’d be able to read would be.
  • Not as good as reviews suggested

It was fine but I was under impressed throughout. The ‘big twist’ at the end that other reviewers mentioned was in fact a smaller predictable turn. I wouldn’t recommend it to a friend.
  • Pretty Forgettable

I felt like the premise was a bit difficult to accept. After looking past some of those inadequacies, there wasn’t much else in the story to grab onto. Wouldn’t read again or recommend.
