Description

“I used to be a lesbian.”

In Gay Girl, Good God, author Jackie Hill Perry shares her own story, offering practical tools that helped her in the process of finding wholeness. Jackie grew up fatherless and experienced gender confusion. She embraced masculinity and homosexuality with every fiber of her being. She knew that Christians had a lot to say about all of the above. But was she supposed to change herself? How was she supposed to stop loving women, when homosexuality felt more natural to her than heterosexuality ever could?

At age nineteen, Jackie came face-to-face with what it meant to be made new. And not in a church, or through contact with Christians. God broke in and turned her heart toward Him right in her own bedroom in light of His gospel.

Read in order to understand. Read in order to hope. Or read in order, like Jackie, to be made new.

Eye Opening. Such a great read. Important for anyone taking any stance regarding the LGBTQ and Christianity intersection.

This book is a riveting and powerful testimony about God’s power to save, deliver, and set free. I decided to read this book because I am discipling someone who has turned away from the lesbian lifestyle. I found however that it really shines the light on all sin. Sin is sin regardless of your sexual orientation, and we all need a Savior.

This book is helpful for ALL Christians and unbelievers to understand an increasing topic in our society- and how to approach it with the power of truth and compassion in our personal lives as well as other people. Grateful for Jackie sharing her testimony and redemption story. "And they have conquered him (the devil/Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony" (Revelation 12:11).

Jackie Hill Perry has really done a stellar job captivating God’s glory in just about 125 pages. This book not only educates us on SSA Christians, but it also shines a light on our own sins. I found myself relating to the description of the difficulty of resisting the temptation of sin. I have seen some reviews that mention the difficulty of reading her style of writing, and I did not seem to get that same reaction. Jackie is a very wise and intellectual person who uses many different words to describe feelings and emotions. She is a poet. We would do well to take heed to the words on these pages. I truly enjoyed reading this book. Praise God for using Jackie in this way.

This book was written by Jackie, but God just used her gift as a vehicle for his message. The goal isn’t heterosexuality, the goal is Holiness and likeness in the image of God.

Absolutely amazing!!! But I love Jackie. She’s so relatable and raw. So necessary in this day and age, someone being transparent and honest.

The book is less about how to stop being same sex attracted because its a sin or how God will stop same sex attraction by developing a relationship with God, but more about how seeking a relationship with God can guide you by his Grace to focus more on your relationship with him and turn from all sin not just homosexuality to Glorify and honor him.. I myself love God with all my heart, mind and soul and is same sex attracted and still deal with temptations yet by Gods grace I am able to turn from what my desires tell me I should do to give thanks and honor to jesus for what he has done for me. I love this book and would recommend it to everyone believer or unbeliever. God is good and wants everyone to develop a relationship with him... Thank you Jackie for writing this book. May God continue to bless you and your family.
