Description

When a palace maid is attacked, Josie and the captain of the guards investigate together. Since one of the suspects is a foreign diplomat and magic expert, they use the opportunity to learn more about sorcery. But it soon becomes clear that he is using them to get to the truth about the palace and the servants' origins.

With unrest in the village, and servants growing impatient for answers, an undercurrent of danger pervades the air. But the most dangerous man of all may prove to be the king himself, because every clue points to him knowing more than he lets on.

As tensions both in and out of the glittering Glancian court rise, the heat between the captain and Josie is a distraction. But is it a welcome one?

The Echo of Broken Dreams is the second of six books in this series. The saga picks up where book one ends and this book is as good as the first! There is mystery and suspense, nobles and servants, and a hint of burgeoning feelings between the Captain and Josie. In my opinion, if you enjoy fantasy then give this series a try. I know I’m glad I did!

I loved the first book so much I stayed up well into the morning to finish. It’s 2 am now and I wish I had money so I could buy the second! 😂Regardless, I love the way this author writes, she entirely entrances you with her descriptions, character development, and plot twists - not to mention the romantic storyline! I hope Hammer and Josie will learn to trust eachother more as the series progresses!

  • The Palace Mystery is Slowly Revealed

Josie spends more time at the palace and with her budding romantic interest, the Adonis-like guard captain. You learn more about some key castle figures and are exposed to side plots in the town and in the castle. But you may begin to question how long it will take this story to reveal its magical secrets, complete the romantic storyline, and free the castle staff from the magical trap. This is still a reasonably good story with a few interesting characters. However, rather than compelling me to wish for a longer tale, I am beginning to anticipate the wrapping up of all of the loose ends in a big magical reveal after which Josie and the Captain strike out on their own. On to Book Three.

After devouring the first novel in this series, I immediately purchased this second installment. I am hooked and found this book just as engaging and enchanting as the first. My only regret is making it through the novel in a single day! I am sure I will make through all the currently released books in this series and be waiting on pins and needles for more!
