Description

A game of pretend with the highest stakes of all in the latest novel of breathtaking romance from USA Today bestselling author Caitlin Crews

Ty Everett ran off to the rodeo when he turned eighteen and has been riding bulls ever since…until his last fall causes partial amnesia and he must return to Cold River Ranch to figure out what comes next. But how can he pick his next move when he can’t remember how he got here in the first place—much less the beautiful woman who appears at the ranch, claims she knows him, and warms his cold heart for the first time since he woke up in the hospital?

Rodeo Queen Hannah Monroe gave up her crown for Ty Everett, and her innocence. What she wants from Ty now is a divorce. But Ty can’t remember her—or their secret wedding, or even the son she never meant to hide from him—and Hannah is torn. How can she leave the man she can’t forget and still loves despite herself? And even if she’s willing to start over, what will happen when the truth comes out?

“Caitlin Crews writes cowboys you’ll swoon over…and will grip your heart.”Nicole Helm, author of Cowboy SEAL Redemption

This is book two in the Cold River Ranch series and it features Ty and Hannah. The crown of the queen of Rodeo Forever couldn’t be tarnished and Ty and his reputation would definitely tarnish it. They were in love and secretly married. She got pregnant and when she went to tell him before his ride, he was not happy about it and they had a huge fight. What happened next would set the course of Hannah’s life for the next year and a half. This story is about Hannah’s battle to either divorce OR reclaim the man she loves but doesn’t remember her or the fight they had before his accident. She’s a fighter! I love that! I didn’t like how long it took her to tell Ty about Jack. It kind of made her look she didn’t want to share either of them with each other. I also didn’t like their extreme lack of communication despite living together. I do think there was too much left unsaid between Ty and everyone else. This was an emotional story line with fantastic characters! It’s a story full of introspection with a beautiful HEA. I can’t wait for Brady’s story.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from St. Martin's Press via NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it. The beginning of the book is really slow. The characters do more internal thinking than actual dialogue being spoken. When there was a conversation, I would sometimes have to go back to the location the question. The premise of the story is a good one though. It took a long time to completely understand what had happened between Hannah and Ty. Their very first conversation in the book was confusing to me. There was never a simple answer to a simple question. I was frustrated with that wondering if it was a generational thing as I am in my 50's or just something to complicate the situation that was already complicated. I felt Hannah was very immature a lot of the time but then again she is only 22 in the story. I did appreciate the dual POV format of the story. Like I said earlier, there was a lot of that going on though. It was really towards the end of the story that I really felt a connection to the characters. I really hate to give up on a story and have only ever not completed a handful of stories in all of my years of reading. I was glad to have persevered because the final few chapters more than made up for the slow start.

ARC for honest review with no compensation received from NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press. 4.5 stars Cold Heart, Warm Cowboy is book 2 in the Cold River Ranch series by Caitlyn Crews. This a new to me author but I definitely will be reading more of her books! Ty Everett, rodeo bull rider since he turned 18 has a fall that has caused partial amnesia. He returns home to figure out what is next in his life...if only he could remember.... Hannah Everett, former rodeo queen gave up everything when she met Ty, gave her innocence to him, married him , had a child he knows nothing about... now all she wants is a divorce. Can these to find a way to overcome all the past hurts, his amnesia and secrets to a HEA or will they just divorce and go their separate ways??

Ty and Hannah were each other’s oasis in a world of chaos. Both dealing with parents with difficult expectations and emotional blackmail. Life brought them together at the rodeo but it also pushed them apart after a near fatal incident for Ty with a bull. Ty returns home to Cold River Ranch, the last place he wants to be but he has to heal and deal with his memory loss of the last 2 years. When sexy Hannah shows up at the ranch, it’s first time he has truly felt anything since the accident but he doesn’t know why this woman draws him in. Hannah knows she needs to face Ty and get a divorce but she never expects to learn that her husband doesn’t remember her. Does she put it all on the line and hope he will find those memories and their love again? Or should she cut her losses and move on? Hannah’s strength and determination give Ty something to lean on as he lives with uncertainty in his mind. The love they share is strong and experiencing the struggles for both of them as they navigate these turbulent waters was inspiring. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
