"Barbara Freethy has done it again with a great new series, that has the reader packing their bags to move to the town of Whisper Lake!" Robin – Goodreads

Justin Blackwood can't remember a time when he believed in the magic of anything, least of all love. A cynical businessman, who grew up in a broken home, he guards his heart with every breath he takes. His job has taken him all over the world and roots are the last thing he wants...until he meets a beautiful innkeeper in Whisper Lake.

Warm-hearted, free-spirited Lizzie Cole wants it all—the dream job of running her own inn and a man who wants to settle down. Despite a previous romantic setback, she still believes in happily ever after and her perfect soulmate. She just has to find him. While the dark-haired man with the shockingly blue eyes makes her heart beat faster, Justin Blackwood is the last man who should leave her breathless. He's her complete opposite and they don't want the same things.

But when a lunar eclipse throws Whisper Lake into darkness, Lizzie and Justin find themselves struggling to fight the moonlight and a love that could change their lives—if they're willing to take the risk.

Another great book in the Whisper Lake series. Sure wish this place was real. I’ve come to love all the family and friends. You get to feel all the various emotions they are going through. I think Whisper Lake did its magic by bringing two workaholics together. Loved it. Barbara Freethy never fails to deliver!

  • Heartwarming love story!

    By Boating Mom
This was such a beautiful story between Lizzie, the owner of The Firefly Inn at Whisper Lake, and Justin, the owner of a robotics company. Justin has focused all his time and energy on his company, not taking time to enjoy life at all. And that’s just the way he likes it. Until he arrives in Whisper Lake to attend a vow renewal for his grandparents. A slight accident has Justin learning how to slow down and enjoy life. Of course, the sweet, optimistic Inn owner may have something to do with that! Barbara Freethy has such a wonderful way with words. She transports you to a world filled with true love and lasting friendships. As you read you can’t help but feel like you’re a part of it. The characters in her stories all have such vibrant personalities that you really feel like you know them. This story touched a place in my heart. I found myself rooting for Lizzie and Justin! I can’t wait for the next installment in the Whisper Lake series! While this book is part of a series, it can be read as a standalone.

  • Wonderfully Written Romance

Can’t Fight the Moonlight is a wonderfully written romance in the small town of Whisper Lake. A visit to Whisper Lake is always an enjoyable trip. The town is known to have some magical healing powers and is now helping Lizzie and Justin deal with some of their past issues. Barbara Freethy makes you care for all of the residents and visitors to Whisper Lake. I enjoy catching up with the characters from previous books as well as meeting new ones. This is a great addition to the Whisper Lake series. It’s a wonderful vacation from the current-day craziness. My only complaint is it ended too soon! I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.

Barbara Freethy is one of my favorite authors and usually her books are fantastic, but this one fell flat. My world might be off track because of what’s going on and my enjoyment of this book may reflect that.
  • Beautiful and Heartwarming 5 star read!

    By Grinandstampit
Lizzie and Justin meet as a result of an accident. Justin is a workaholic who is driven, independent, angry and hurt by an upbringing he can’t forgive. Lizzie is also fiercely independent and driven in her own way as an innkeeper in Whisper Lake. But Lizzie is also a people person, an asset in her chosen profession. Something between Justin and Lizzie clicks. But secrets and insecurities are revealed over time. Barbara Freethy has written a beautiful and heartwarming five star read.
  • Enjoy!

CAN’T FIGHT THE MOONLIGHT. .....Barbara Freethy Justice world was his job and the computer and connections around the world has been his life for ten years. A call of grandparents renewing their vows, he had to come, she wouldn’t take a no answer.. Almost there when a slow moving truck was ahead, a mishap happened, and now his car was splattered with lemon juice, lemons and his opened laptop was now crushed. Phone, computer and notes he needed within a half hour, and none now. Meeting Leslie Cole the owner of the Inn where grandparents staying, and now were not coming in till tomorrow, another bust. She thinks it’s a vacation and no, this was an obligation. Leslie sees the bright side of things, and he is mr gloom if it didn’t pertain to his work. She challenges him to being on vacation. What I liked about the author’s book is you fit right in, as though invited and you are watching this all unfolds. His grandmother was always telling him to stop and smell the roses. Will he finally be able to. The characters are rich in description, and their lives. Interesting of how things. change as we read their story. Given ARC. for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
