Enter the world of Throne of Glass with the first book in the #1 bestselling series by Sarah J. Maas.

In a land without magic, an assassin is summoned to the castle. She has no love for the vicious king who rules from his throne of glass, but she has not come to kill him. She has come to win her freedom. If she defeats twenty-three murderers, thieves, and warriors in a competition, she will be released from prison to serve as the King's Champion.

Her name is Celaena Sardothien.

The Crown Prince will provoke her. The Captain of the Guard will protect her. And a princess from a faraway country will befriend her. But something rotten dwells in the castle, and it's there to kill. When her competitors start dying mysteriously, one by one, Celaena's fight for freedom becomes a fight for survival-and a desperate quest to root out the evil before it destroys her world.

Thrilling and fierce, Throne of Glass is the first book in the #1 New York Times bestselling series that has captivated readers worldwide.

While I enjoyed this book, I understand many found it a slow read. But I’m begging you, do NOT give up on this series. Push on until the third book, you will not regret it. This is the greatest series I have ever read. Keep in mind while you’re reading this that Maas first wrote this an an amateur. I believe she wrote the first version of this when she was a teen and later rewrote it. You will see her style grow and develop in time. My favorite parts of this novel involved the creepy library scenes. I’m a sucker for a good spooky tale and I was thoroughly creeped out. When it comes to writing a compelling plot, strong female characters, and trauma, Maas is simply unmatched. She made me fall in love with reading again.

Some of the best writing I’ve read. Nothing in the story felt like fluff or useless to read. I liked how easy the author made the world feel while reading about it. Also making likable characters such as Choal and Celenea. The story’s fight/action scenes were fun to read. Everyone’s backstories were explained well and the villain was executed well too. Can’t wait to read the next book.

I read tons of reviews about pushing through but I didn’t have a problem at all with this book being to slow. It was good!!! Im ready to begin the next book with anticipation of what the king will make her do.
