Description

Sarah J. Maas's sexy, richly imagined series continues with the journey of Feyre's fiery sister, Nesta.

Nesta Archeron has always been prickly-proud, swift to anger, and slow to forgive. And ever since being forced into the Cauldron and becoming High Fae against her will, she's struggled to find a place for herself within the strange, deadly world she inhabits. Worse, she can't seem to move past the horrors of the war with Hybern and all she lost in it.

The one person who ignites her temper more than any other is Cassian, the battle-scarred warrior whose position in Rhysand and Feyre's Night Court keeps him constantly in Nesta's orbit. But her temper isn't the only thing Cassian ignites. The fire between them is undeniable, and only burns hotter as they are forced into close quarters with each other.

Meanwhile, the treacherous human queens who returned to the Continent during the last war have forged a dangerous new alliance, threatening the fragile peace that has settled over the realms. And the key to halting them might very well rely on Cassian and Nesta facing their haunting pasts.

Against the sweeping backdrop of a world seared by war and plagued with uncertainty, Nesta and Cassian battle monsters from within and without as they search for acceptance-and healing-in each other's arms.

I loved that this book reveals Nesta’s story. It definitely has all the spice you could ever dream of. I wish all of the books in this series were as sexy as this one (and the second, Wings and Ruin). I chalk this book up to being about Nesta’s growth and healing, which is great…but it left big holes in the series’ other main characters and their completion. I ended the book half satisfied in the end. I am a bit saddened since you really do get so invested in these characters and yet Sarah almost leaves you hanging, asking yourself so many questions. I am disappointed that Sarah never really tied in Tamlin and his downfall, along with Lucien and Elain’s mating bond. I also did miss Feyre and Rhys… never really got to hear her take on being pregnant. His take on becoming a father after 5 centuries of longing. And what of Elain and Az? Emerlie and Mor? There were teasers there that were left to the wind. In my heart, this series is 5 stars for sure. I would easily read this series again. I do hope Sarah ties up loose ends with a 4.1 book at some point.

This book tried to end my crush on Rhys by painting him as an over-protective mate who’s lost sight of reason and body autonomy and I hate that. Otherwise it’s a great story with Nesta.
