A novel inspired by #1 New York Times best-selling author Mark Greaney’s Audible Original drama, Armored.

Joshua Duffy is a Close Protection Agent—a professional bodyguard—and he's one of the world's elite operatives. That is, he was until his last mission in Lebanon. Against all odds, Josh got his primary out alive, but the cost was high. Josh lost his lower left leg.
There's not much call for an elite bodyguard with such an injury. So, Josh has to support his family working as a mall cop in New Jersey. For a man like Josh, this is purgatory on earth, but miracles can occur even in Paramus.
A lucky run-in with an old comrade promises to get Josh back in the field for one last job. The UN is sending a peace mission into the Sierra Madre mountains in Mexico, an area so dangerous it's known as Espinazo del Diablo—the Devil's Spine. Only a fool would think they could broker peace between the homicidal drug cartels in the region, and only a madman would sign on to keep those fools alive.

  • Great Story!

Wow! What a great story. I was a little hesitant at first, I’ve read all of the “Gray Man” books, and I wasn’t sure about this story of “a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest,” but it turned out to be a great read from a great writer. Well done, Mark!

Book was confusing at times going or hopping from character to character. Amazing what a one leg can do, as well as a wife thousand of miles away. Book was not as good as his previous ones.
  • Awesome!

Great read! More of these to hold me over until the next Gray Man release. Just Don’t let Amazon do to Duffy what they did to Gentry …
  • Great new character

I love this new story featuring a new character. The writing is excellent and the plot is amazing. I couldn’t put it down and I finishes the book in two days. It’s a nice change of pace from his usual gray man books. But the quality is just as good.

Have read all of the Gray Man novels. Have enjoyed every one. Along with Jack Carr, Ward Larsen, Brad Thor, and Tom Wood,- Mark Greaney' s protagonist are I feel the most enjoyable to read. That said- the two best books I have read in the last five years are the stand alone books by Mark Greaney- Red Metal and Armored. Armored is that good.

Lots of action, exciting and well done. What I have come to expect from Mark Greaney.
  • In search of an editor,

The novel spanned over four hundred pages with a simple and predictable plot. The really bad guy was disclosed early. The corrupt leadership was expected. I think Mark gets paid by the page.
  • Incredibly Exciting

Wow what a terrific premise for a narco thriller. Very well done.
  • Great story. Missed the grey man but wow what characters and the action was non stop.
