Description

The #1 hit movie on Netflix starring Kevin Hart, based on the courageous and searingly honest memoir about the first year of the author's life following the birth of his daughter and the death of his wife.

Matt and Liz Logelin were high school sweethearts. After years of long-distance dating, the pair finally settled together in Los Angeles, and they had it all: a perfect marriage, a gorgeous new home, and a baby girl on the way. Liz's pregnancy was rocky, but they welcomed Madeline, beautiful and healthy, into the world. Just twenty-seven hours later, Liz suffered a pulmonary embolism and died instantly, without ever holding the daughter whose arrival she had so eagerly awaited.

Though confronted with devastating grief and the responsibilities of a new and single father, Matt did not surrender to devastation; he chose to keep moving forward—to make a life for Maddy.

In this memoir, Matt shares bittersweet and often humorous anecdotes of his courtship and marriage to Liz; of relying on his newborn daughter for the support that she unknowingly provided; and of the extraordinary online community of strangers who have become his friends. In honoring Liz's legacy, heartache has become solace.

Since I started the book I couldn't put it down. I planned to read it in a month, but I finished it in 3 days. It's a funny, sad romantic book.

I absolutely love this book! I've gone from crying, to laughing and back to crying page by page! While my heart hurts for Matt with the loss of his wife. It also hurts for Maddy because she'll never get to know her mom. I feel that he did a wonderful job of preserving Liz's memory!!!

I've been following Matt's blog off and on since Maddy was an infant. I don't know what took me so long to buy the book, but I am glad I did. Beautifully written.

This book brought me to tears after just reading the description. I have never felt like I was living what the author was writing about as much as I did with this story. Matt describes real feelings and actions in this reselling of one of life's most difficult situations.

What a touching story. Gripping read. I most definantly could have done without the cursing though. That got old really fast, even if it is who Matt really is. Loved the pictures at the end. She was gorgeous & cute little Maddy looks just like her. Thanks for sharing your story of real life sorrow and joy.
