Description

#1 BESTSELLER The apocalyptic vision of a world blasted by plague and tangled in an elemental struggle between good and evil remains as rivetingand eerily plausibleas when it was first published. • The tie-in edition of the nine-part CBS All Access series starring Whoopi Goldberg, Alexander Skarsgard, and James Marsden.

A patient escapes from a biological testing facility, unknowingly carrying a deadly weapon: a mutated strain of super-flu that will wipe out 99 percent of the world’s population within a few weeks. Those who remain are scared, bewildered, and in need of a leader. Two emerge—Mother Abagail, the benevolent 108-year-old woman who urges them to build a peaceful community in Boulder, Colorado; and Randall Flagg, the nefarious “Dark Man,” who delights in chaos and violence. As the dark man and the peaceful woman gather power, the survivors will have to choose between them—and ultimately decide the fate of all humanity.

It took me awhile to get into this book. But once I did, it was hard to put down! Great read. Well thought out characters. I will probably read this one again in a few years.

Although I have only read three Stephen King books, this one was definitely my favorite. The book was long but could have been even longer. The character development was so good that Stephen could have made this a trilogy at least. This is definitely worth a read in my opinion. I wasn’t a huge fan of Stephen King’s work before I read this one.

Really good scares and honestly creepy. Nightmares all night expected. Nothing less is worthy of King. My dad always told me he liked this one. My favorite of all time is The Shining. Definitely up next!

It is a long book but well-written. And it was an ironic timing for me to read it when the COVID-19 pandemic was ongoing.

I’m happy I read this unabridged version in full. At times it was rough, the story is great but it is soooo long. I’d say overall it’s worth it to experience and really get to know the characters. Don’t watch the movie before you read the book if you have the choice. It’s much better to create your own images of the landscape and characters for this tale. The movie is great and does too good of a job at creating the chance to use your imagination
