Description

Stephen King's legendary debut, the bestselling smash hit that put him on the map as one of America's favorite writers

"Gory and horrifying. . . . You can't put it down." —Chicago Tribune

Unpopular at school and subjected to her mother's religious fanaticism at home, Carrie White does not have it easy. But while she may be picked on by her classmates, she has a gift she's kept secret since she was a little girl: she can move things with her mind. Doors lock. Candles fall. Her ability has been both a power and a problem. And when she finds herself the recipient of a sudden act of kindness, Carrie feels like she's finally been given a chance to be normal. She hopes that the nightmare of her classmates' vicious taunts is over . . . but an unexpected and cruel prank turns her gift into a weapon of horror so destructive that the town may never recover.

Great novel. However heartbreaking and especially sad at the end. Plenty of tension throughout, and despite its length it proves to have better development than longer novels.

Fantastic read! Very recommended for high school horror fans, you will not be able to put it down! Can’t believe this is King’s first work, it’s absolutely amazing in every way.

I found it way better than any movie depiction. It was very heartbreaking because it reminds me of the bullying I endured as a child into my teen years. I felt relief for her in the very end. Wonderfully written.

Amazing, well-written book from King. Would definitely recommend for fans of the horror genre or of Kings’ previous work.

The book had a really strong beginning, a good middle and the end was alright. I feel like most Stephen King books have a good beginning and middle then the end wanes a little bit, but overall it was a really fun read, I would recommend it.

I’d seen the movie but never read this particular King book. A delightful way to spend a rainy afternoon in sunny Florida. Highly recommend the book even if you’ve seen the movie...way better.
