"Fourth Wing will have your heart pounding from beginning to end... A fantasy like you've never read before." ―#1 New York Times bestselling author Jennifer L. Armentrout

Enter the brutal and elite world of a war college for dragon riders from New York Times bestselling author Rebecca Yarros

Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail was supposed to enter the Scribe Quadrant, living a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general—also known as her tough-as-talons mother—has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.

But when you’re smaller than everyone else and your body is brittle, death is only a heartbeat away...because dragons don’t bond to “fragile” humans. They incinerate them.

With fewer dragons willing to bond than cadets, most would kill Violet to better their own chances of success. The rest would kill her just for being her mother’s daughter—like Xaden Riorson, the most powerful and ruthless wingleader in the Riders Quadrant.

She’ll need every edge her wits can give her just to see the next sunrise.

Yet, with every day that passes, the war outside grows more deadly, the kingdom's protective wards are failing, and the death toll continues to rise. Even worse, Violet begins to suspect leadership is hiding a terrible secret.

Friends, enemies, lovers. Everyone at Basgiath War College has an agenda—because once you enter, there are only two ways out: graduate or die.

The Empyrean series is best enjoyed in order.

I devoured this book, then turned around and read it a second time because no other book I picked up could even compete. Drooling waiting for the second.

Really a perfect transition book if you love romance and want to get into fantasy. Easy read, but not annoyingly simplified - it’s actually quite impressive writing and world building. And I’m absolutely obsessed with the characters haha

I’m usually pretty bored by fantasy novels, but I could not put this book down. I cried many times, felt emotional connections to the characters, and was hungry for more once I finished. Super excited for the next book!

This book lived up to every bit of the hype. I read this book in less than two days, and I cannot wait for next book in the series! This book was toe-curling, window shattering, greatness. I highly recommend it to anyone who liked ACOTAR, Red Queen, Six of Crows, or Cruel Prince. Truly, fantastic.

This is probably the best book I’ve read in a long time. It was long, but I never got bored or skimmed. The story was engaging, it’s clever and thought-provoking, and I loved the characters. I didn’t want it to end, and I can’t wait for the next book.

Finished this in two days and will be lost until the next one comes out. Saw some people saying that the sex scenes were too long? In my opinion I think it had a great buildup to the sex scenes and had the perfect good plot-to spice ratio. Definitely will be on my mind for a while!

This is a romance novel in a fantasy setting, which isn’t bad, I just wasn’t expecting it. An addictive read none the less.
